13. Supply of Ration to Refugees from East Bengal Accommodated in Camps
The per capita daily expenditure of feeding refugees limited to Rs.1.10 for an adult in Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura and Rs. 1 in West Bengal, Bihar and other states. As regards children between the age of 1-8years, the monetary ceiling is Rs.0.60 per child in all states. Children up to 1 year of age is issues milk and baby food out of donations made by Foreign and Voluntary Organisations. Within the prescribed monetary ceilings refugees are asupplied daily rations in camps according to the following scales:
A. For Adults-
1.Rice – 500 grams
2.Wheat/Atta- 100 grams
3.Pulses – 100 grams
4.Edible oil- 25 grams
5.Sugar – grams
B. For minors between the age of 1-8 year
1.Rice – 150 grams
2.Wheat/Ata – 50 grams
3.Pulse- 50 grams
4.Edible oil- 12 grams
5.Sugar - 15 grams
2. The cereals, pulses, sugar, edible oil are drawn as far as possible from the Food Corporation of India as their issue price. After computing the cost of these articles, the balance amount of prescribed monetary ceiling not exceeding Rs.0.33 and Rs.0.20 per head per day in respect of adult and minor respectively are given to refugees for purchase of vegetables, salt, spices, fuel for cooking, hair-oil and washing shop. Besides, children fro below one year of age, each payment is made at the rate nor exceeding Rs.0.20 per child per day.
14. supply of cotton and warm cothes to refugees from East Bengal accommodated in camps
The scale of supply of cotton clothing and warm clothing are ideated below.
A. Cotton clothing
For adults (those aged above 12 years of age) –
Man- One Dhuti and one Kurta. For Muslims Lungi may be supplies instead of Shuti.
Women – One Sari and one Blouse.
For minors (ie. those aged 12 or less)
Boys – One shirt and one pair of shorts.
Girls – Frock and underwear.
B. Warm clothing-
Wollen sweater or bundies made of shoddy wool for children upto the age of 12 years of age are supplied, when climate conditio so justify.
