Enrolment in Higher Education: Northeastern states reflect the all-India picture in gross enrolment but average enrolment in colleges busts the statistical myth

North-eastern states as a whole reflects more or less the all India picture in respect of gross enrolment ratio in higher education for the age group of 18-23 years even though Assam and Nagaland are still far behind. However, the average enrolment per college in the North-eastern states tells the real story of higher education in the region and busts the statistical myth. It is 1010.87 as compared to 698 which reveal that the ratio of number of higher education institutions to students in the region is significantly less as compared to all India scenario.
